Safeguarding

At Gilsland, the safety, wellbeing and happiness of every child is our highest priority.  We are committed to providing a safe, caring and inclusive environment where all children are valued, respected and able to learn.

We believe that safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.  All staff, governors and visitors share a commitment to protecting children from harm and promoting their welfare.   Staff receive regular safeguarding training and follow robust procedures to ensure that any concerns are acted upon promptly and appropriately.

We work closely with parents, carers and a range of external agencies to ensure that children received the support they need.  We encourage all children to speak to a trusted adult if they have any worries or concerns.

If you have a safeguarding concern about a child, please contact our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) Nicola Atkinson or our Deputy Safeguarding Lead, Amy Lee, via the school office.

If your concern is outside school hours, or you wish to report a concern directly, you can contact Cumberland Safeguarding Hub (Children's Advice and Support Services - CCASS)

If a child is in immediate danger or a cime is being committed, always call 999 immediately.

Gilsland CE Primary School, follows the latest statutory guidance in Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and is fully committed to promoting the welfare and safeguarding of all our children.  We expect everyone in our school to share this committment.
